Need motivation to get back into drawing and/or painting? Want to take your work a step further or experimentwith other media? Come join this art class in a relaxed atmosphere and receive experienced instruction with theindividual in mind. We will use an exercise at the beginning of each class to review drawing skills, composition,light and shadow, proportion and perspective, painting techniques or matting and framing. The remainder of theclass will be devoted to developing your interest. (previous drawing and/or painting experience recommended)Materials needed: 14 x 17 sketchpad, pencils, eraser and supplies for media of your choice.

Drawing Still Life

What is the most important skill in drawing – How to See! Learn technical and observational skills for drawingform expressively in a variety of drawing media. Create the illusion of light and shadow to represent 3D form.Demonstrations in sighting and measuring, controlled and expressive line, building darks and pulling outhighlights, shading, blending and layering color with pastel. This is a fun skill building class!Materials: Graphite, charcoal, conte crayon, pastel, Strathmore 400 Series drawing pad 14 x 17 or 18 x 24, plasticand kneaded erasers, felt blending sticks, small leather chamois, supply box.

Drawing and Painting - Ages 10-13

Have fun while learning new skills in drawing and painting. Explore different techniques through projects thatteach basic elements of design. Students will explore a variety of subject matters and assorted mediums.Materials needed: Basic Drawing pencils 4B through 2H (or a comparable set), kneaded, plastic and gumerasers, 11X14 sketch pad, 11X14 tracing pad, 18X24 Newsprint Pad, Black fine tip marker. Painting supplies aswell as other materials may be purchased later as necessary.

Drawing and Painting - Ages 14-18

This class expands the concepts and the development of drawing skills and applies them to painting. Emphasis isplaced on detail, use of color and creative expression. Students will be able to choose from a variety of subjectmatters and assorted mediums.Materials needed: Basic Drawing pencils 4B through 2H (or a comparable set) kneaded, plastic and gumerasers, 11X14 sketch pad, 11X14 tracing pad, 18X24 Newsprint Pad, Black fine tip marker. Watercolor Painting

Saturday 1 - 3 pm

Vibrant color and depth can be achieved in watercolor! Step by step instruction in layering glazes to definehighlights, volume, cast shadows, warm and cool color relationships. Learn basic color theory, the differencebetween transparent, staining and opaque pigments and how to use them for best effects. Instructor demonstratetechniques and assists students. Previous drawing experience helpful, all levels welcome.Materials: Artist quality watercolor set, watercolor paper or block, #6, 8 or 10 watercolor brushes, palette, ruler,pencil, water jar and cotton rag.
